Weekly Photo Challenge: Home

“Russel Hardin speaks of the epistemological comfort of home. But what he does not explicitly mention is that home is not necessarily a single, stable place. It is the encounters with people who tell us about themselves, their stories of myths and legends, the suspicions that build over generations, but also the hope that refuses to dry up, the songs and spices that we come to know, the way the twilight suddenly sharpens the contours of objects and figures, the sound of language, books – all of this together forms the experience of home’. The bell tower of my village will always represent home to me, no matter where life takes me. But I’m glad I had the chance to live elsewhere and to get to know and love other places so much that I can call them home too.

  1. Home is such a vexed question sometimes. In my own story I’m still trying to work it out but to see your bell tower makes me happy for you. Such a perfect symbol. Buona domenica dovunque ti trovi, cara.
